17. CAN’T GET ENOUGH

can’t get enough
I’m havin a ball
can’t get enough
she tells him
and he tries again
poor catholic virgin
Holy Roman Priestess
can’t see enough
in blinding light.
what does it take
to burn out the stars?
what does it take
to turn a marble statue warm?
O marble goddess
let him be your faun
let him hurt himself on you
but forgive him
if he pulls away
when the fire dies.
what does it take
to make flames
in a marble goddess?

Amazon e-book page Thank you for reading. If you love it, tell your friends. Please post a favorable review at Amazon, Good Reads, and other online resources. If you want to thank the author, you may also buy a copy for the low price of a cup of coffee. It's called Read-a-Latte: similar (or lower) price as a latte at your favorite coffeeshop, but the book lasts forever while the beverage is quickly gone. Thank you (JTC). PS: I wrote most of these poems (except the title poem, October Leaf) as a teenager, so I published them under the pseudonym A. T. Nager.
