73. JUNGLE OPSIS

          **(cautious tread)
the jungle is alive with the
       timeless patter of a clear,
         sunless stream

patters–
platter
          on green cistern rocks; empt—
                    empty echoes…

       **(tiptoes, a wary hand)
       hanging garlands of vine block
              vision.)
       **(timid tread)
chattering animals wild movement silence petrified
              **(fear)
persistent cry of plumed
beady–eyed marvel
              **(hypnotic ignorance, fear, hatred)

I Run Back
       to the Beach
       to the Sunlight
       to the blinding Sand

                     (                     )
       At my back, echoes
suddenly explode in the
green halls of wonder!

Amazon e-book page Thank you for reading. If you love it, tell your friends. Please post a favorable review at Amazon, Good Reads, and other online resources. If you want to thank the author, you may also buy a copy for the low price of a cup of coffee. It's called Read-a-Latte: similar (or lower) price as a latte at your favorite coffeeshop, but the book lasts forever while the beverage is quickly gone. Thank you (JTC). PS: I wrote most of these poems (except the title poem, October Leaf) as a teenager, so I published them under the pseudonym A. T. Nager.
