“That’s right,” she said softly, “This is your home. Your world.”
He stared at the car, at her, at the motel, at the car, then back at her. His eyes were damp, and his adam’s apple worked as if he were trying to speak. Finally he said in a choked up voice, “Will you help me?”
“I’m fresh out of plans. You have one?”
“Yes. We have no choice.”
“You are brave for a civilian,” she said running one rough hand down his cheek. “I admire that very much. Great genes.”
He stared at her, at the motel, at the car, at her again.
“I want to give you something,” she said, opening her suit.
“What?” He looked down at her body. She wriggled out of her clothes and lay naked beside him except for a bra and panties.
She snapped the bra lightly. “Want to take it off?”
“Are you insane?” He looked at the dark building. “Hold it, you are from another planet and all this is just nuts.”
“When I was telling you about me and Sparto, I didn’t a chance to finish explaining.”
“Oh?” He reached out and touched her body, seemed to like what he felt, and crawled closer to touch more. She liked his gentle, hungry touch and pulled him close.
His warmth excited her. “Yes. You see, we cannot conceive unless we have help. If I live through this, Sparto and I will raise a child that will have your brave genes. That is how we procreate our race. That is why we are searchers throughout the galaxy, looking for brave donors of genetic material.”
“My goddess,” he breathed, holding her close. “This is worth everything. Like this is what I dreamed about in all those French classes that I hated.”
“Take me,” she whispered fervently. “I want you...here.” For about ten glorious minutes, Rodney Soltan was a deity, rocking and rolling in her fertility, and she followed the primordial instincts of her race, throwing everything aside for an opportunity to couple productively. They came together, rocking and groaning, almost sobbing with divine pleasure.
Rodney had the pale, shining face of a prophet. “I’m ready now,” he declared, waving his .38. “Will you help?”
“I will, and if we lose the precious gift you gave me, then I’ll die by your side. Sparto will be proud of me if he learns what I have done.”
“Okay, then this is the plan,” Rodney said bravely. He explained it to her.
Thank you for reading. If you love it, tell your friends. Please post a favorable review at Amazon, Good Reads, and other online resources. If you want to thank the author, you may also buy a copy for the low price of a cup of coffee. It's called Read-a-Latte: similar (or lower) price as a latte at your favorite coffeeshop, but the book lasts forever while the beverage is quickly gone. Thank you (JTC).
