Every time you say you love me
I watch your eyes turn distant
Every time you hold me
I feel emptiness between your arms
Baby I’m tired of kissing the heels
of dreams revealed to little girls
I am Jesus and have my dreams to run from
Mickey Mouse has nothing over you.
You are the queen of lonely aces
You never say no, you never say yes
You only smile until they touch you
Then you bite, then you run, howling.
Let’s trip to your kingdom
Let’s enjoy this tyranny
Your whips are made of glances
Your chains are made of smiles
And all I can do is run away
YesyesI can only leave.

Amazon e-book page Thank you for reading. If you love it, tell your friends. Please post a favorable review at Amazon, Good Reads, and other online resources. If you want to thank the author, you may also buy a copy for the low price of a cup of coffee. It's called Read-a-Latte: similar (or lower) price as a latte at your favorite coffeeshop, but the book lasts forever while the beverage is quickly gone. Thank you (JTC). PS: I wrote most of these poems (except the title poem, October Leaf) as a teenager, so I published them under the pseudonym A. T. Nager.
